Arguably, two of Australia's best sprinters have combined to deliver wonderful results for both the National team and their commercial team, AusGo.
On Day 31, the second round of CoN started in Beijing, China. With the worlds best on display, such as Div 1 regulars Armando Silveira and Bruno Hesseling, not much expectation was put on Australia on winning this event. However, everything seemed to work out with Houston leading out Creagh for the victory. This victory broke a 19 season drought of CoN victories for Australia. A very relieved Graham Creagh spoke to international media after the podium. "I'm very happy with the result. Geoff and I have very good chemistry at AusGo and it has obviously translated on the international stage. It's already a great achievement to be both of us to be part of the National Team at such a young age, but also winning for the National Team, it's just unbelievable. I also have to thank the coach of the national team, Damo, for believing in me, and giving me world class riders such as Royce to work for me."
On Day 35, the expectations of Creagh were raised with Michael Gold giving him full support for the 2nd Div classic Mito-Tokyo. Creagh was one of the favourites heading into the race. AusGo seemed to have the race under control until the very end where Houston once again delivered Creagh to the line. After the podium, Geoff Houston decided to take some time and talk to the media. "I felt really good today. I actually didn't feel to tired until the last the 500m, that's where I decided to let go and let Graham do the rest. I'm so glad that we managed to get the victory today and repeat what happened in China."
Later that night, celebrations were in full swing where the AusGo budget was blown due to the amount of saké consumption. The next morning, we tried to speak to Creagh about the victory, but once again, he was found on the floor....
The next big target for AusGo is going to be Lappi Sea GP, even though it seems a long time until it happens.
